چکیده

Improving the performance of the QCL through block diagram as well as mathematical models is the main scope of this paper. In order to enhance the performance of the underlined device, the mathematical model parameters are used in a reliable manner in such a way that the optimum behavior was achieved. These parameters play the central role in specifying the optical characteristics of the considered laser source. Moreover, it is important to have a large amount of radiated power, where increasing the amount of radiated power represents the main hopping process that can be predicted from the behavior of quantum laser devices. It was found that there is a good agreement between the calculated values from our mathematical model and those obtained with VisSim and experimental results. These demonstrate the strength of implementation of both mathematical and block diagram models. Keywords—Quantum Cascaded Lasers (QCLs), Modeling, Block Diagram Programming, Intersubband transitions.

QCL-based sensors target health and environmental applications

Trace-gas analysis and chemical sensing using quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) has attracted more attention in recent years since most molecules have a unique absorption spectrum in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) region. With many commercial options available, QCLs are ideal candidates for mid-IR spectroscopy because their emission wavelength reaches from the mid-IR to the far-IR with high power effici...

Terahertz Lasers Based on Intersubband Transitions

Semiconductor quantum wells are human-made quantum mechanical systems in which the energy levels can be designed and engineered to be of any value. Consequently, unipolar lasers based on intersubband transitions (electrons that make lasing transitions between subband levels within the conduction band) were proposed for long-wavelength sources as early as the 1970s. However, because of the great...

Quantum Cascade Lasers Enhance Mid-IR Spectroscopy

Most vapor molecules have a unique absorption spectrum in the mid-IR region, so this range is of particular interest for trace gas analysis and chemical sensing. And quantum cascade (QC) lasers are ideal candidate light sources for mid-IR spectroscopy: Their emission wavelength reaches from the midto the far-IR with good power efficiency. QC lasers are based on the intersubband transitions betw...

Modulation Response and Relative Intensity Noise Spectra in Quantum Cascade Lasers

Static properties, relatively intensity noise and intensity modulation response in quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) studied theoretically in this paper. The present rate equations model consists of three equations for the electrons density in the conduction band and one equation for photons density in cavity length. Two equations were derived to calculate the noise and modulation response. Calcula...
